Finding Indigo

I am often asked how to find Indigo. My usual reply is "Go to Withington. Ask a student." However, I have been guilty of saying "It's opposite the Victoria" It isn't! It's opposite The Albert. It's just a doorway, so look in vain for any frontage. The name is over the door. Push it open and go down the steps. Don't be scared.

Hilary Step Back Room Extension

It is taking a while to show benefits for the live music. Despite more than doubling the area at the back,  the number of seats available had initially risen from 12 to 14. The extra space is occupied by some extremely clunky tables and two large leather sofas. I recommend a visit to the Victoria Mill furniture warehouse in Burscough if some characterful tables and chairs are needed at a knock down price. Some trendy lights have been installed, but, they are pointed at the ceiling. Last night we had the odd situation of the audience brightly lit and the performers in darkness. Considering the cost of the whole job, two spot lights pointed at the performance area would seem a sensible addition.

O'Neills Didsbury

It occurs to me that I have been a little unfair to O'Neills. They do put a lot on. It's noisy and they don't serve anything I recognise as beer, but this is not a beer guide after all!

Ed Kainek plays Funk.

Ed's first set at the Bakers on Tuesday was devoted to Funk. recalling the heady days of the Harold Salisbury  Quartet when any of  the notables in town might turn up for a Jam on a Friday night. More please, and more of Nina Henchion who is rapidly gaining experience and confidence singing both with Ed's band and with Andy Kidd at the Dog on Sundays. As she expands her repertoire we will hear more of this lady.  To my delight, Ed played some of his Funk numbers at Indigo last night to oblige me as I had not heard the whole set at the Bakers. As far as I could see, everyone else was as pleased as I was.

Vaio Charger needed

Young and impecunious singer needs a replacement charger for her Sony Vaio. She has been quoted £60 but I know there are cheaper ones on the web. We believe it is 19.5 volts. Anyone got a spare one left over from a dead computer?

Paint Indigo Red, or any other colours you like.

This is not, so far, a music gig, but is included because you may have noticed, Indigo is one of my favourite venues. Every Monday (Till I don't know when) from 8.30 to 10 pm you can go and paint the walls and ceilings. Contact Indigo first to register for the free drink(s). How? I don't know. I've tried but without success. You may have to call in.
